James Eugene Anders

April 16, 1940 — February 9, 2025

Grove City Ohio

James Eugene Anders, lovingly known as Jim, was born on April 16, 1940, in Chillicothe. He left this world on February 9, 2025, surrounded by the love he so freely shared throughout his life. Jim's spirit was as vibrant as the many lives he touched, a testament to his friendly and outgoing nature that earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Educated at Linden McKinley, Jim carved a fulfilling career that showcased his dedication and work ethic. From his early days at Big Bear and Cardinal Foods to his proud co-ownership of Steelton Village IGA, he exemplified commitment and perseverance. Most recently, he graced the aisles of Drug Mart in Grove City, Ohio, where he remained actively engaged in his work up until the last moments of his life. His coworkers fondly recall his favorite quote, “Bingo,” which encapsulated his zest for life and enthusiasm for connecting with others.

Jim was a devoted man of God, often sharing his faith and the love of Christ with anyone who crossed his path. His personality shone with grace and warmth; he was a gentle soul who was always ready to lend a listening ear. Whether it was during travels or in his local community, it never mattered where Jim found himself—he had a remarkable talent for finding familiar faces and forming connections, leaving a lasting impression in every encounter.

An outstanding member of his community, Jim was recognized with an award from the City of Columbus for his bravery in apprehending a criminal, an act that saved the life of a young lady. This deed was a reflection of his character, a man who stood for justice while embodying grace.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever be cherished by his surviving family: his daughters, Cathy (Lou) Endres, Julie (George) Suddath, and Jenny Anders; his son, Mike (Pam) Anders; and his beloved uncle, Marvin (Beverly) Rhoads. He is also survived by loved ones Virginia Ruppersburg, Debbie (Mark) Ruppersburg, Donna (Greg) Prantl, Denise Kumler, Delia (Larry) Sparks, Ron (Becky) Ruppersburg, Desiree Ruppersburg, and Dana Ruppersburg, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of compassion and love.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol A. Anders, and his parents, Paul E. Anders and Hilda Marie Anders. The void left by Jim’s departure will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but the memories of his kindness, humility, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire and uplift.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Jim at a viewing on February 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest in Grove City, Ohio. A funeral service will follow on February 18, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at Amazing Grace Christian Church in Grove City. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
