James Hobert (Hobe) Branham, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Altercare Canal Winchester. He was born August 8, 1931, in Endicott, Ky., spending most of his early life in southeastern Kentucky.
Preceded in death by his parents Bee Branham and Ethel Owsley, stepfather Alex Owsley, wife Judith Branham, stepbrothers Alton, Elman and Elton Owsley, and stepsister Elma Kendrick.
He is survived by sons Mike (Virginia) Branham, Ron (Diana) Branham and Don (Teresa) Branham; grandchildren Ashlee (Mike) Powell, Tony (Jaclyne) Branham, Holly Branham, Abby Branham, Kendall Branham, and Ian Branham; great-grandchildren, Caleb Powell, Emma Powell, and Harrison Branham.
Hobe married Judy in 1957, and began his family in Ashland, Ky., before moving to Columbus in 1967.
Hobe worked as a truck driver in his early life and finished his work life as a construction worker and concrete finisher. Hobe was an avid hunter and fisherman, was heavily involved with home CB radio in the 60's and 70s, and enjoyed traveling with Judy to the southeastern coast, where he enjoyed eating fresh seafood and walking on the beach.
He enjoyed watching his beloved Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, as well as the Ohio State football team. Hobe came to know the Lord late in life and was baptized at the Parsons Ave Church of God.
Friends and family may visit for calling hours on Wednesday, February 9 from 10am to noon at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, with the service beginning at noon. Interment to follow at Fernwood Cemetery, 460 Rowe Rd, Lockbourne.
