James H. Briggs, 85, of Pataskala, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born to William B. and Marie C. (Fleming) Briggs on July 11, 1923, in Pataskala, Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Edward Briggs. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Harriet ( Lough ) Briggs; daughter, Constance (Philip) Smith; grandchildren, Philip (Allyson) and Jason (Jennifer) Smith; great-grandchildren, Ella, Clara, Alaina, Evan, Rachel and Katherine Smith; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jim was a member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church, Shriner's, Mason, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, Newark Model A Club, Penn-Ohio Model A Club and AACA Automobile Club. Jim was a supervisor at Rockwell International in Newark, Jeager Machine Company in Columbus and CEO of Northview Nursing Home in Johnstown. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008, 10:30AM at Pataskala United Methodist Church, 458 South Main Street, Pataskala, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pataskala United Methodist Church in Jim's honor.
