James Carter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at the age of 55. He was a man of deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication, leaving behind an enduring legacy of devotion to his family and his community.
James is survived by his loving wife and life soulmate of 17 years, Melissa. He is also survived by his children: Aleesha, Jazmin, Xavier, Brianna, Michael, Brandon, and Max, his cherished grandchildren: Aiden, Ashton, August, and James and siblings Michelle (Tim) Fauble and Michael Carter. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Carter, mother Jacquelyn (Jackson) Carter and brother Joe Carter Jr. His family will carry forward his memory with love, strength, and the lessons he imparted. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends whose lives he touched in immeasurable ways.
James dedicated 24 years of honorable service to the United States Navy, retiring in 2012 as a Chief Petty Officer. His service to his country was a point of immense pride, and his Navy family held him in the highest regard. Following his military career, James began working at Ohio Health, where he served as a Lead Medical Assistant at the Gahanna Family Practice Clinic. His kindness, professionalism, and commitment to the well-being of others made him a valued member of the Ohio Health team, and he was loved by his coworkers and patients alike.
Those who knew James will remember him for his stoic demeanor, wicked sense of humor, and the quiet way he led his family. He was the rock upon which his loved ones built their lives—a constant source of stability, wisdom, and unwavering support. He was a man of few words, but those words were always meaningful, and his actions spoke volumes. He created a home filled with love, where his wife, children and grandchildren could pursue their passions, embrace every moment, and feel the security that only a devoted husband, father and grandfather could provide.
James’ number one passion in life was his family. His silent strength and unconditional love shaped the lives of all who knew him. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the countless lives he touched throughout his life.
