Jim enjoyed a childhood with his close knit family in central Ohio. Jim had many fond memories of his sisters and cousins playing on his grandfather Petty's farm. This is where at an early age Jim developed a passion for hard work.
Jim met his wife Ruthie while attending Central High School in Columbus. Jim was elected president of his class, a job he took serious and enjoyed. He was a founding member of the Central High School Alumni Association. Jim helped plan many outings and fundraisers for his much loved Central High School.
The Farbers owned an 80 acre get away in Muskingum County Ohio. Here Jim was able to pursue his love for the outdoors. In the name of conservation Jim had family and friends plant 5,000 pine trees and he over saw the construction of a 2 acre pond. Together the Farber's hosted many weekend gatherings, filled with love and fun.
Jim started a social club at his Florida community clubhouse, where he remained president for many years. Here Jim planned years of holiday dinners, themed parties, dances, game nights and just all round fun.
Jim loved working in his yard. The curb appeal was always stunning.
Jim's love of people and his desire to work kept him in the workforce his entire life. From farm hand to traveling sales, Libby's Foods to managing a Big Bear Store for over 30 years. Jim worked in Florida sacking groceries for Publix during his retirement. He hired on at the Schottenstein Center as an usher at age 80. Jim worked at The Schott until age 90 when Covid shut things down.
Jim was very proud of his grandchildren. He was happy Travis and his family purchased a farm. Something he always loved. Jim was proud of Alexis and her degree in architecture. Jim had a love in high school for architecture and designed an apartment building for one of his teachers. He also designed a his home at Hi-Muski-O.
Shelly always took comfort in her dads life experiences and great advice.
Jim will be greatly missed. He is with his beloved Ruthie and many family and friends that went before him. I am sure he is planning a get together for them right now.
