James "Fred" Maxwell, born on March 10, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024. A beloved fixture in the lives of many, Fred’s presence was one that brought joy and laughter into every room he entered. He graduated West High and carried with him a wealth of experiences and stories that endeared him to family and friends alike. Known for his ornery spirit, Fred had a way of turning even the simplest of moments into a delight, always adding a touch of fun through his captivating storytelling.

Fred was a faithful man whose greatest love in life was his family. He adored each member, but his heart truly blossomed when he was surrounded by his grandkids and great-grandkids. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, offering support, encouragement, and a listening ear. Music held a special place in his heart as well; he was a talented piano player, often filling the air with melodies that created cherished memories.

His legacy is lovingly carried on by his daughter, Traci S. (Brian Miller) Maxwell, son, Anthony S. (Danielle) Maxwell Sr., and daughter, Debbie Mackey, as well as son, John Mackey. Fred is also survived by his grandchildren: Joseph R. Speakman, Jr., Taylor S. (Brea) Crumbley, Courtney R. (Damon) Glispie, Anthony S. Maxwell, Jr., Cheyanne M. Maxwell, Chelsea (Shawn) Beasy, Madison Mackey, and Justin Mackey.

Fred’s journey was touched by the loss of many, including his father, Raymond A. Maxwell, mother, Joyce E. Haas, wife, Dorothy Maxwell, son, James F. Maxwell, Jr., and daughter, Donna Mackey. Their memories will always be intertwined with his, and he leaves behind a legacy rich in love, laughter, and music.

As we remember Fred today, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with joy, love, and devotion to those he held dear. He will be missed profoundly, yet his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
