James Anthony Gwen, affectionately known as Tony, was born on August 9, 1956, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. He departed this world on October 16, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, following a brief illness. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Tony was a man many talents and a dedicated worker. He shared his time and energy with Cracker Barrel in Pickerington and Nova Tech, where he endeared himself to coworkers and patrons alike. It was his infectious humor and compassionate spirit that made him not just a colleague but a friend to many. Described as an all-around good guy, he could light up any room with his easy laughter and quick wit.
Family meant everything to Tony. He lovingly embraced the family of his significant other, Lutrecia Johnson, treating her children and grandchildren as if they were his own, which is a testament to his loving nature and the depth of his character. He cherished the simple joys of life, often immersing himself in family gatherings, watching football, or catching up on the news with his loved ones.
James is survived by his beloved signifant other of 18 wonderful years, Lutrecia Johnson, father, James B. Gwen, Sr., his devoted sister, Evette Gwen, and a close-knit group of cousins – including Donna Cooper, Miko Cooper, and Tommy. A special thank you goes out to his friends at Cracker Barrel in Pickerington, who shared many laughs and memories with him.
Tony's journey was marked by his genuine kindness and warmth, traits that will be sorely missed but fondly remembered. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearley O'Bannon, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
As we reflect on the vibrant life Tony lived, we are reminded of the laughter he shared and the love he gave so freely. Though his time with us was too short, the impact he made will echo in our hearts forever. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
