James Hamilton, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away at the age of 93 on May 19, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Minneapolis, Kansas, to the late Morris and Alice (Baker) Hamilton.
In school he played baseball, tuba, sousaphone, and clarinet, and eventually joined the Navy with his brother John near the end of WWII. While serving in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Tech, he was stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico where he met, married, and loved Doris (Davis) Hamilton, his wife of 67 years. He earned his teaching degree at New Mexico State and they eventually moved to Ohio where he earned his PhD at The Ohio State University, after a stint as agriculture-teaching missionaries in Mexico.
Jim had a long career as a beloved Teacher, Professor and Assistant Director of The National Center for Research in Vocational Education, as well as consultant. He travelled much of the world conducting workshops for The Ohio State University. He 'retired' three times. When retired, he and Doris spent many happy winters camping and enjoying Arizona with friends and family.
Jim was a good and faithful Servant. He enjoyed Sunday afternoon touch-football with his kids, and softball, golf, and cards with friends & family. He was a passionate fan and decades-long Buckeye football season ticket holder, a love shared with family. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman who taught us to "never let school get in the way of a good education." He attended many of his children's and grandchildren's track, cross country, and gymnastics meets, baseball, softball, basketball and football games, endless concerts, recitals, etc. He loved his family and friends and they loved him.
Jim is preceded in death by his brothers John and Tom and sister Patricia, son David, and grandson Kyle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Doris, sister Mary, brother Joe; his children Keith, Scott (Priscila), Becky (Todd); and his 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at a future date at Meadow Park Church of God, where he attended and served for 47 years.
