James Allen “Jay” Fellows, aged 75, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on December 28, 1948, in Seattle, Washington, to Beth and Clyde Fellows.
As part of Clyde’s service in the US Navy, Jay grew up in a number of places, including Bremerton, Washington, Garden City, New York, and Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. Jay attended boarding school at Shawnigan Lake School in British Columbia, graduating in 1966. He attended Brown University, where he was a varsity rower, and graduated in 1970. There he met the love of his life, Rae Roberts, and they married on January 24, 1970 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Jay earned a MBA from Harvard Business School in 1972. Rae and Jay lived in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, then settled in Columbus in 1978. Jay had a long career in business as an executive and business owner. He was a loving husband, and devoted to his family. Jay was known for his sense of humor, and was a lifelong dog lover; he will be missed by his dog Charley. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, where over the years he served as treasurer, vestry member, and Senior Warden.
Jay is survived by wife Rae; sister Liz; sons Ian and Nat; daughters-in-law Erin and Debbie; and grandsons Jackson, Adam, Grant, and Holden.
