James Edward Manuel, Jr., age 70, passed on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Westerwood Assisted Living after a prolonged illness.
James (Jim) was born into James E. Manuel, Sr., and Edith M. Manuel's Christian home on January 29, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio.
James graduated with honors from Glenville High School. He left Cleveland to begin his academic studies at Cornell University. Jim attended some prestigious universities before completing his studies at The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and minor interest in aeronautical science.
After graduation, Jim set out to begin his adult path of unexpected blessings, making lifelong memories, and experiencing the love and dedication of his family. Jim met his wife/best friend, Ruth Naomi Allen, while working at the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). Jim and Ruth loved the outdoors and traveling. Their dedication to each other remained for forty-six years.
Jim left ODH and went on to work in the banking industry; Ameritech; Columbus Chamber of Commerce; and retired from the Ohio Department of Development as the Deputy Director. Jim's retirement turned full-time for his hobbies and interests. Jim increased his time as a pilot and flight instructor out of Marysville, Ohio. He also became more avid with his woodworking and cabinetry which was self-taught.
Jim was raised in a Baptist home with a family of deacons and deaconess. This planted the seed for Jim's thirst to read, learn and study the Bible. Jim's membership and service at the Vineyard fed this space.
Jim is survived by his stepchildren, Christine Allen, James (Carroll) Allen, Austin (Phyllis) Allen; brother, Glenn (Linda) Manuel; sister, Rita Manuel; step grandchildren, Bradley (Chivon) Toles, Whitney (Everett) West, Jordan Allen, Victoria Allen, John Ndive; nieces, Tammy Manuel, Ashley (Derek) Deas and a host of family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Naomi Manuel and parents James E. Manuel, Sr., Edith M. Manuel.
