MARIK
James R. Marik, 69, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2009, after battling malignant melanoma cancer for two years. Jim was surrounded by his loving family at his home at the time of his death. Born to James F. and Helen (Vrba) Marik in Bellaire, OH on May 2, 1940, Jim is preceded in death by his mother and sister, Eileen Lamb. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Phyllis (Palmer) Marik; father, James F. Marik; daughters, Michelle (David) Penney and Shawnette Marik; son, Shad (Jennifer) Marik; sister, Peggy (Gary) Koonce; brothers, Larry (Carol) and Don (Mary Ellen) Marik; brother-in-law, Ray Lamb; grandchildren; Jordan Marik, Morgan Marik, Caleb Penney, Matthew Penney and Jocelyn Sharpe; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Jim was owner of Marik Fence Company for 36 years and worked for Master-Halco from 2004-2008. Jim served in the US Army from 1958-1961; Police Officer for Perry & Sharon Townships for 20 years; freshman coach for Beechcroft and Brookhaven football teams; member of the Columbus Clippers Booster Club and the Central Ohio Home Plate Club; loved managing the Northland Community Center Pool; past Vice-President of Northland Community Council and past President of Northgate Civic Association. The Marik family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 5-8 PM at Sharon Woods Baptist Church, 5959 Sharon Woods Blvd, Columbus, OH. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009, 11:00 AM at the Church. Interment will follow at Blendon Central Cemetery, Westerville, OH.
