James Stanley Ray, 79, of Grove City, passed away 10:10PM Tuesday, October 2, 2007. James was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Stanley and Florence Ray and his mother, Nelle Ray Duncan. James is survived by his loving wife, Ernestine Ray; daughter, Dianna (Burl) Queener; sons, Michael (Karen) Ray, Stanley (Kathy) Ray; grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, James Queener, Elizabeth McComb, Raina and Thor Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew McComb, Zachary Cleveland, Gracie Marie Kehl, Stacia Armstrong; sister, Rose Mier and brother, Bill (Joyce) Ray. James was a retired Sergeant from the Columbus Police Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Capital City Lodge #9 and a veteran of the US Air Force. James loved spending his time fishing, camping and traveling, especially to Disney World. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00PM Friday, October 5, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio with a Fraternal Order of Police service beginning at 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the funeral home. Pastor Mary Lou Harris will be officiating with interment at Sunset Cemetery.
