James Arthur Van Dyke, 80 years old, of Pataskala, Ohio passed away Saturday, 20 April 2024 while working in his back yard.
James ‘Jim’ Van Dyke was born 30 March 1944 in Cass Township, Muskingum County to Brice Gerald and Hellen Jean (McKee) Van Dyke. He was an avid pickleball player, long time member of Tail Spinners Radio RC Airplane Club and Central Ohio Soaring Society. He was a ham radio operator, an excellent marksman, and loved being outdoors. He retired from American Electric Power (AEP) company after working for 33 years as an Electrical Engineer. With a young family, he worked as a cobbler for 6 years until he became a draftsman for AEP. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1962 and received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Akron University in 1977.
Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife Frances Mae (Robb) of 63 years; children, James Van Dyke, Jr of National Harbor, MD, Maria (Darl) Pringle of Ames, IA and Christina (John Massie) Van Dyke of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Marinna Van Dyke, James (Lauren Clough), Alycia, Ian Pringle, Hannah, Arthur Grant, and Emma (Sean Roberts) Stoutenburg; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, George, Henry Pringle; sister Mollie Harris.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 27 April 2024, from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Family will begin receiving friends at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2135 Baldwin Road, Reynoldsburg. Bishop Derek Colvin will be officiating.
Jim will be cremated, and the interment will be at Frazeysburg Cemetery at a later date.
