Janet Arledge

Janet Louise (Wren) Arledge, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022. She was born in Big Springs, Logan County, Ohio on August 7, 1930. She is preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Jessie (Lawson) Wren; seven siblings, Dorothy, Donna, James, Mary Lou, Samuel, Jerry, Arthur; and husband Robert Phillip Arledge (1916-1973).
She is survived by brother David Wren; and will be deeply missed by her children, Russell (Marika) Arledge, Becki (Ray) Neu, Randy Arledge, Rick Arledge; 4 grandchildren, Rebecca Kathryn Phillips, Michelle James, Renee Arledge, Rosalee Arledge; 4 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Janet grew up on a farm in rural Hardin County, Ohio, graduated from Ridgeway High School "Class of 1948" and after graduation moved to Columbus, Ohio, attended Bliss College, and pursued a career in banking and financial institutions.
After marrying Robert and purchasing a home in what is now German Village, she became active in the neighborhood and community. She volunteered at Stewart Avenue Elementary School. She served as President of the PTA in the 1950's and early 1960's. Was active at South Congregational Church, Redeemer United Brethren Church, and Grove City Church of the Nazarene where she worked after retiring from banking and headed the Single Adult Ministry.
She excelled in arts & crafts and made hundreds of decorated chocolate Easter eggs, and hundreds of Christmas stockings, each with the recipient's name on them as a fund-raising effort for school and church activities. For decades she also operated her own home-business baking and decorating thousands of custom cakes, from small birthday cakes offered in restaurants, to elaborate multi-tiered wedding cakes. She enjoyed decorating every room in her house for each and every holiday throughout the year, and always had beautiful outdoor flower gardens. She travelled the world with friends, volunteered with overseas church-related activities, she was devoted to her family, and remained independent and active her entire life.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 1:30pm at the Fernwood Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
