Janet Louise Thornton, 69, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at her residence after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. She was born January 18, 1939, in London, daughter of the late Russell and Mae Johnson. In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. She retired from National City Bank with 30 years of service. Janet currently worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital with 10 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard Thornton; sons, Dennis (Michelle) Thornton and Kevin (Melanie) Thornton; daughters, Colleen (Michael) McClune and Carla (Bill) Porter; grandchildren, Richard, Spencer, Kelsey, Peirce, Kyle, Luke, Emily, Savannah, Courtney, Sydney, and Liam. Also survived by seven brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
