Janice R. Staats, 73, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 12, 1937, in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Hilbert and Eleanor Musser. Janice was the Executive Director of the Olde Worthington Business Association and Market Master for the Olde Worthington Farmers Market. She recently received a resolution from the Worthington City Council recognizing her service to the community. Janice also did missionary work in Nicaragua. She is survived by her husband, Larry E. Staats; daughter, Rene (Ron) Noel; son, Eric (Chris) Staats; grandchildren, Zach Noel, Sean Noel and Rachel Staats. Visitation will be Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 2:00-3:00 PM at Epworth United Methodist Church, 5100 Karl Rd. Columbus, with the memorial service beginning at 3:00. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation www.active.com/donate/trocrfcoukos/janstaats
In honor of Janice's volunteer work, Battelle-Darby Creek Metro Park will be planting a tree in her memory. May the work she has done speak for her and her kind spirit grow through this tree. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
