Jay Michael Nichols, 71, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7th, 2021 at his home. Jay was born August 4, 1949 on Johnson Air Force in Sayama, Japan and spent his childhood in various cities in the United States and France. He joined the Air Force after highschool and was stationed in Las Vegas and England. While in England, he caught an early concert of then-little known band Pink Floyd and was hooked, becoming a lifelong fan. After the military, he made a permanent home of Columbus, Ohio and spent many decades working at the Heinzerling Foundation in their maintenance department. In his free time, Jay enjoyed model trains, computers, puzzles, a good bottle of dry red wine, and spending time with his family.
Jay was preceded in death by his father Gen. Wayne S. Nichols, mother Henrietta M. Nichols, and sister Carol M. Nichols. He is survived by his niece, Colette E. Nichols; nephew, Michael R. Nichols; grandniece, Susan A. Nichols; and cats, Bounce, Jax, and Caspurr.
