Jean (Jennie) M Rapp, 90, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Manor Care in Westerville, OH. Born November 8, 1918, in Columbus, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George J. Rapp; brother, Joseph Mesi; sisters, Josephine Catalfina, Dorothy Cecketti, Margaret Clark; great grandson, Christian Henry. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Jim) Runkle; son, Robert (Kathy) Rapp; grandsons, Robert (Susan) Henry, Andy Rapp; granddaughters, Susan (Clark) Watson, Robin Rapp, Beckie (Jason) Willis; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Owen Henry, Ryan and Benjamin Watson, Carmen Cochran, Preston, Jared, Andrea Rapp, Carson Willis; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother, Jess Mesi; sister, Rose Mary Bates; brother-in-law, Charles Clark; several nieces and nephews. Jean was co-owner, with her late husband, of Maynard Market from 1947-1962, assistant manager of Forest Park IGA from 1963-1968 and co-owner of Jenn-Marr Corporation from 1981-1989. She was also a member of Grace of God Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 4-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Thursday, November 5, 2009, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Diemer will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jean's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, OH 43221. The family would like to thank the devoted staff of Manor Care of Westerville for years of support and care.
