Jerilou Fairchild Cady, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 in Westerville, Ohio.
She was born March 9, 1944 and soon thereafter adopted by the late Ernest and Frances Cady.
Jerilou is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Cady; sister, Jocelyn Ritter; brother-in-law, F. Richard Ritter.
Jerilou was a graduate of Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, Ohio, class of 1963; she attended The Ohio State University for two years; then Columbus School of Practical Nursing, class of 1966. As an LPN she worked at various health care facilities including Columbus Children's Hospital, St. Vincent's Children Center, and as Dr. Clifton Cage's office manager for many years. Her passion for special needs children led her to work for 14 years at Six Pence School for those with learning disabilities and later was a teachers aid for autistic elementary students. She loved arts and crafts and taught ceramics out of her home for many years. She also deeply loved animals, having many fur-babies (cats) over the years and volunteered for the Ohio Wildlife Center. She enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally and spending time with family and friends.
Jerilou is survived by her sister, Judy Wiggins; nieces and nephews Mindy Balgrosky (Steve), Susan Cady, Kathy Alexander, Christine Martin, Jeff Ritter (Cindy), Debbie Albrecht (Dave), Dave Ritter (Sue), Janelle McGrath (Jim), Laura Duda Thompson (Brian), Kathy Duda, Jennifer Hughes Ridgell, and countless more great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23, 4:30pm to 6:00pm, with a celebration of life service immediately following at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
