Jerry M. Cox, 88, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on February 4th., 2022.
He was born in Corbin, Kentucky on January 27th., 1934 to the late Dennis and Viola Jones-Cox.
He is preceded in death by his; Daughter Barbara Cox, Wife Rebecca Prince-Cox, Son David Cox.
Surviving family includes; Daughter Sherry Little, Grandchildren Joe Cox, David Cox, Skylar Liles, Preston Wilbur, Brooklynne Little, Wyatt Little. 7 Great-Grandchildren, and soon to be 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
He was a 1952-53 Graduate of Worthington High school where he was a Basketball, Football, and Track star. After graduation, he joined the Army, served in the Korean War, all while stationed in Puerto Rico. Following his honorable discharge, he settled in Clintonville, where he lived until his death. Jerry retired from Western Electric/Lucent Technologies with 39 yrs. service. Early on he enjoyed traveling with his family, and working in his garden. He often did his own remodeling and repairs, always ready to take on a challenge. He enjoyed drinking Miller High Life, playing Mississippi stud, and betting on sports venues. He had a very special bond with his Grandson Preston, whom he helped to raise. Jerry will be missed by family and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231. Funeral services will be immediately following also at the funeral home. Burial in procession will be held at Union Cemetery - Columbus, OH
