Jerry Otis Adkins

Jerry Otis Adkins, RN age 70, passed away May 28, 2011 with family by his side at his son's home. Born October 20, 1940 in Sandstone, WV, oldest son of the late Norville "Tally" and Rosie Adkins. He attended Beckley Jr. College on a basketball scholarship. He was a respiratory therapist before becoming an Emergency Room trauma RN at St. Anthony Hospital. He retired to his log cabin home with loving wife of 51 years Loretta. Jerry was preceded in death by beloved brother, Harry. Survived by son, Todd (Bonita) Adkins, daughter, Tammy (Vincent) Oaks; grandchildren, Brandi (Bryan), Eric, Torrie, Colton, Kaylee and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Mia and Brayden; brother, Buster (Eva) Adkins; sister, Retha (Bill) Beard, Hazel (Tom) Martin and Mary (Gary) Hall and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM following visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Berger Hospice for providing compassionate care in the final days of his life.
