Jerry R. Staten, 71, of Columbus, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Portsmouth, OH on November 19, 1939, to John R. and Gladys (Thompson) Staten and is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rita (Steele) Staten; son, Mark Staten; sisters, Linda Golden, Sue Ann Zuffell and Jo Ellen Hurnung; brothers, Greg Gully; grandchildren, Mark A. Staten; great-granddaughter, Sidney Lee Staten; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Jerry was a retired veteran of the US Air Force. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011, 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with the Funeral Service on Monday, July 25, 2011, 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
