Jewell Carter, 83, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on July 18, 1940 in Lake City, Florida to the late Prince and Everlena Murphy and raised by Wallace and Everlena McDougald.
Jewell is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel J. Carter; grandson, James Smith and several siblings.
Jewell is survived by her children, Samuel Carter, Jr., Michael (Tonya) Smith, Vivian L. Carter, Darrell Carter; grandchildren, Tavar Smith, Nia L. Carter, Michael Smith, Durrel Bell; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Izola McDougald, Evelyn Webster and a host of family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231 with a funeral service immediately following at 12:30 pm also at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Jewell's honor.
