Jimmy Earl Dotson, 67, of Grove City passed away on August 7, 2012. He was born August 2, 1945 in Freeburn, Kentucky to the late John B. and Minnie Dotson. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Bentley, Edith Blair, Shelby Hunt, and Della Justice. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sue; sons, Chris of Thornville, Chad of Grove City, and Jonathan (Jennifer) of Pickerington; sisters Gail (Kent) Emerson of Nashville, TN and Frankie Milam of Columbus; brothers Clearance (Jeweldine) of Seveirville, TN and Johnny of Kingsport, TN.
He attended Morehead State University where he received a Bachelors and Masters in Education. He dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to public service while making a difference in the lives of students at Cypress Christian, Brookpark Middle, Finland Middle, Starling Middle, and Westland High Schools.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and working on classic cars.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, where funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, August 9, 2012. Burial will follow in Grove City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Jim E. Dotson Memorial Fund that has been established at Morehead State University. Gifts can be sent to the MSU Foundation, Morehead State University, Palmer Development House, Box 1887, Morehead, KY 40351.
