Columbus

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Lee Cumberledge, who departed this life on February 7, 2025, at the age of 80. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and kindness that will be cherished forever.

Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Jim dedicated his life to family and service. He was the proud owner of a small construction company for many years, specializing in additions, remodeling, and repairs. His skill and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on countless homes. Later in his career, he served as the maintenance director for Columbus West Park Nursing Home for 21 years, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff. Earlier in his career, he worked as a superintendent at Windam Alloy Metal Company.

Jim found great joy in tending to his yard, creating a beautiful, park-like retreat that became a sanctuary for family and friends. His love for animals led him to years of dedication in animal rescue where he provided a loving home to many of his "failed fosters."

Above all, Jim cherished his family. He was married to his loving wife, Pat (nee Rubino), for 59 years, sharing a lifetime of memories and devotion. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Cumberledge and Heidi Cumberledge, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Linda Scheinkie, Karen (Bob) Adamson, and Sandra Gabrovsek, as well as his brother, Michael Cumberledge, and his partner Teri Noland. His warmth, wisdom and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Lewis Cumberledge, his father, Sherman Cumberledge, and his brother, Lewis Cumberledge.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the CHA Animal Shelter, 3765 Corporate Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43231, a cause dear to his heart.

His legacy of kindness, dedication and love will live on through the lives he touched.

Newcomer Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cumberledge family.
