Joan-Marie Eilbacher, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Westerwood.
She was a devoted mother of 3: Al (Debbie), Wendy (Don Robke) and Jay (Eileen) Eilbacher; grandmother to 9: Jamie (Cheyenne), Drew, Lindsey (Trevor), Adam (Melissa), Caitlin (Brent), Bridget (Daron), Cody (Haley), Jason, and Casey (Jake) along with 4 great grandchildren Elizabeth, Alexis, Zane, & Juniper.
Joan-Marie was born, raised, and lived in New Jersey. She attended the American Institute of Banking in New York City after high school to prepare for her first positions in this industry. Her main focus after marriage in 1954 was managing a home and raising a family. She moved to eastern Pennsylvania and stayed 5 years before finally settling in Columbus in Summer-1973. Joan-Marie was one of the early "working mothers". She held various financial and retail positions, all while taking care of her responsibilities at home and enjoying gardening, ceramics, and sewing.
In her empty nest years, Joan-Marie volunteered in various ways. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church for almost 50 years. At first, her roles included taking care of altar linens, working at the annual festivals, and finally presiding over communion services at Friendship Village of Columbus. She contributed over 3000 hours in her 10 years with Mt Carmel/St Ann's Hospital Volunteer Services, especially in their Cancer and Women's Health Centers. Even in the future, she will continue to give back to society since her health information was tracked for a women's health study to research the risk for disease in postmenopausal women.
We will all miss Joan-Marie but know that she has joined her husband of 55 years, John Eilbacher, and grandson, Drew, in eternal life in heaven.
