Joseph "Butch" William Kearney, age 75, of Gahanna, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 29. He was born May 13, 1943, to Joseph and Leona (Gorley) Kearney. Joseph was a graduate of Mifflin High School. He was a veteran with the United States Navy, having been decorated by President Kennedy for his service in the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He belonged to the Bexley Post American Legion. He retired from Boeing Defense Aviation Corporation and also spent time with Columbus City Police, Mifflin Township Police and was Captain of Police with Geona Township. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada over the years, loved Ohio State Football and NASCAR. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn (Bell) Kearney for 57 years; daughter and son, Kimberly Kearney-Rader (Ralph) and Robert (Cierra) Kearney; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, cousins and many loving friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his father and mother; first born son, Lewis G. Kearney.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the NEWCOMER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, Columbus, where the Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Pastor Roger Dempsey officiating.
