WOLVERTON
John C. "Bud" Wolverton Sr., 88, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009 after a prolonged illness. Bud's caregivers included his son, John and wife, Marsha and the wonderful, caring, and loving Hospice workers, especially: Deb, Vickie, Kathy, Steve, Susan and others. Bud was employed at Lenox Furnace Co., proudly served his country as a decorated WWII veteran and was an avid fisherman. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Katherine, who anxiously awaited his arrival. Although they were married 54 years, they were only together 35 years (the rest of the time he was fishing). Bud is also preceded in death by all of his siblings; his sisters, Ruth Wolverton, Mary Jane Clover; brothers, Robert, Danny and Billy Wolverton. He is survived by his son, John C. Wolverton Jr. (wife Marsha); daughter, Pat Grogan (husband Jerry); grandchildren, Brian Grogan and wife Rie, Cris Wolverton, Kelly Grogan and husband, Jason, Kim Boswell and husband Winston and several great-grandchildren, loving nieces (especially Connie), and Cheryl and nephew, Glenn; brother-in-law, Carl Payne; sister-in-law, Josephine Shore. Additionally he is also survived by his best friends of over 70 years, Stanley "Spike" Richards and Barbara Workman who will miss him terribly. He will be missed by his church family at Cooke Road Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March, 18, 2009, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Thursday, March 19, 2009, 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
