John W. Cooper, 80, of Grove City, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Walter B. and Noami (Scott) Cooper, on August 21, 1927, in Garrison, KY, John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas, Marvin and Lowell Cooper; sisters, Shirley Whitehead and Margie Jordan. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Geneva (Jarvis) Cooper; daughter, Debra (Jack) Clary; grandchildren, Trina (Gary) Crawford, Nick and Rick (Jenny) Clary; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Ciera and Hailey Crawford, Adrianna, Ethan, Ian and Gabriel Clary; several nieces, nephews, and friends. John was Fire Chief of the Darbydale volunteer fire department for several years and help start the Pleasant Twp. fire department where he was a Lieutenant until his retirement. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008, 4-8PM at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with the Funeral Service on Monday, July 28, 2008, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grove City Cemetery.
