John Henry Ford Jr., 53, of Gahanna, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born to John Henry and Ruby (Collins) Ford on February 10, 1955, in Ironton, OH, John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Carroll; brothers, Delbert, Jack, and Lewis Ford. Survivors include his fiancee, Saundra Vail and her children, Jordan and Jennifer; sons, Stephen and Jeffrey; sisters, Logean Deskins, Doris (Wes) Wood, Nollie (Jack) Jude, Patricia (Con) Dempsey, Louise (Don) Massie, and Zelma (Marvin) Ingles; brother, Frank (Linda) Ford; many nieces, nephews, and friends. John served in the US Army for 7 years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008, 4-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Friday, July 18, 2008, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, 333 1/2 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20003-1148. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg, OH.
