John H. Hammond, 80, of Pataskala, OH, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. John was born to John C. and Carrie (Thompson) Hammond in Portsmouth, OH on October 5, 1929, and was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Tamara Robinson; great-granddaughters, Melissa Sue and Cassady Logan Robinson; brother, William C. Hammond. Survivors include his daughters, Carol Robinson and Becky (Alan) Soma; son, Harold Hammond; grandchildren, Joseph Robinson and Kerri Robinson, Donnie, Shawn and Ashley Barton, Cody Soma; four great-grandchildren; nephews, cousins and many friends. John was a 32nd Degree Mason, past president of the Reynoldsburg Lions Club and was a member of the Reynoldsburg Historical Society. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, 3-6PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service at 6:00 PM. Interment will be held at Garrett Hill Cemetery, Waynesville, NC.
