John E. Mathews

John Emil Mathews, 87, passed away December 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by parents, John E. Mathews and Winifred Mathews; brother, James Mathews; and brother-in-law, Fred McPherson. John is survived by wife of 35 years, La Verne; daughters, La Nette Johnson and Patricia Turley; son, John Stuart; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Saundra McPherson; many aunts and uncles, nieces, and nephews.
John worked for Ruscilli Construction for almost thirty years as a project superintendent. He was a talented bass fisherman who was featured twice on the cover of Ohio Fisherman. John was also an accomplished woodworker.
Private services will be held.
Donations may be made in John's memory to the American Cancer Society.
