Dad was born November 18th, 1950 to James and Betty Maxwell. He was the 3rd of 6 children (Karrie, Jim, Bruce, Brian, and Janet) and spent most of his childhood in the outdoors with his brothers. At 12 he joined the Boy Scouts where he made friends whom he knew his whole life (we are so grateful for the time he spent with you guys these last years). In 1985 he started at BWA where he worked until he retired. During that time he made countless friends and was respected by his peers and those in his field. In 1977 he met the love of his life whom he was married to for over 43 years, together they raised three sons (Brian, Eric, and Nick) and he loved his family beyond measure. At times working 2 jobs to provide for us and allow mom to stay at home, he always made time to be at every practice, scrimmage, and game for all three of his sons and never once put himself first. Dad’s example of selflessness and love will live on for generations.
He coached many years for the Holly Hill and Westgate organizations, impacting countless families and children along the way. His sons married, and he loved their wives (Danielle(Brian), Danielle(Eric), and Brittiney(Nick)) as if they were his own daughters. In his later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren (Connor, Austin, Carmella, Elijah, Aiden, and Cece) grow and play sports. He enjoyed getting out with his close friends for hikes, fishing, and football Friday night.
On July 2nd dad surrendered to the Lord and found salvation, on August 15th dad was called home. He passed with his best friend and love of his life at his side. Dad will forever be one of the most dedicated, loyal, and bravest men we’ll ever know. If a man’s wealth is measured by the number of those who love him then dad was truly a rich man.
