John McKee McCall, 92, passed suddenly March 3, 2021 at home in Columbus, Ohio. Survived by his bride of 67 years, Barbara; children, Jean (Ed Detwiler), John III "Jack", Bruce, David (Laura); seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Born: Butler, Pennsylvania. Received Armco Steel scholastic scholarship to University of Cincinnati, BS in Mechanical Engineering with PE designation. (Member of Triangle Fraternity; met Barbara Hays). Served US Army as SPP at Edgewood Arsenal. Member of Masonic Order, Life Member of the Damascus Shriners. Member of Linworth United Methodist Church, Columbus, OH and Centenary United Methodist, New Bern, NC. Started sales career at Mine Safety Appliances, worked for Industrial Nucleonics/AccuRay over 2 decades, retired from Eaton IDT in 1996. Moved to New Bern, NC to pursue passions of golf and sailing. Leaves behind a legacy of strong values, determination, positivity, love of learning, and being a loyal and loving spouse and friend. Known for never meeting a stranger, uncanny ability to remember people's names and faces, his stories, sparkly blue eyes, impish grin, and being the only guy you ever knew who could carve 20#s of meat off a 15# turkey. He will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors. Visitation Sunday, March 14th, 2021 from 1-2:45pm at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus 43231. Masonic service at 2:45pm. Celebration of Life to follow. The trajectory of John's life was changed by the scholarship, so helping others attain their education was important to him.
