John Anthony Orlando

John Anthony Orlando, 77, of Grove City Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 22, 2025, surrounded by his wife, family and friends whom he deeply loved. 

John was born May 8, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, to John and Dilcia (Bernal) Orlando. He was a devoted husband and father, United States Army veteran, truck driver, athlete, award-winning artist of various mediums, and member of the Grove City Arts Council. His extraordinary talent was clearly reflected in his drawings, paintings and sculptures, which varied from biblical scripture, wildlife, and historical people and artifacts. John enjoyed studying early U.S. battleships and meticulously created stunning replicas with literally no detail left unnoticed. 

He and his wife, Debra, owned and operated a karate studio for many years. John loved playing football in his youth, and watching football was his absolute favorite pastime. John had a wonderful relationship with God. He enjoyed his weekly bible studies with Pastor Ted, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Army Veteran David A. Orlando, and his brother Joseph.

John is survived by his wife Debra (Heffley-Urbanik) Orlando, sister Bernadette (Richard) Oeser, brother Dennis Orlando, and abundant family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 28 at the funeral home. Military ceremony will be held at 1:30pm, Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville OH 44273, where his son peacefully rests.
