John R. Bartlett, 79, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2010. He was born to Roy Peter and Elma Hazel (Burchett) Bartlett in George's Creek, Ky, on January 20, 1931, and is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Caroline Bartlett, Sue May, Ida Mae Pfeifer; brothers, Roy Peter Jr., Fred, Charles Bartlett. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Shimmons) Bartlett and their children, Julie Ann and John R, Jr. He is also survived by his first wife, Veloice McKinney, their two daughters, Deborah Duke (Thomas); Patricia Leibold (John); grandchildren, Rachel and Natalie Duke, Holly, Spencer and Lauren Leibold; brothers, David Bartlett of Louisa, Ky, and Max Bartlett, of Olean, NY; sisters, Anna Preston and Elizabeth Thompson, of Ashland, Ky; several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as sergeant in the U.S. Army. Following his Honorable Discharge, he worked in sales for most of his life. He was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason, Masonic Lodge #699 in Richardson, Ky. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010, 6-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231, with the Funeral Service on Friday, May 7, 2010, 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
