John Paul Sheets

John Paul Sheets, 89, of Columbus, joined Heaven's army on February 12, 2024. He was born in West Virginia on August 2, 1934 to the late Lawrence Forest and Mabel Belle (Henry) Sheets. He married his first wife Jean, who preceded him in passing in 2012. He then courted Mary L. Hall, until their marriage on November 4, 2013; Mary survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Glenda Sheets Kilbourne; two step-children, John (Alice) Meredith and Sandee (Irv) Davis; five grandchildren, Robb (Stephanie Jo) Ryan, Jeff Ryan, Anthony Ryan, Jilianne (Chris) Kilbourne Crawford, and Sydney (Isaac Henderson) Kilbourne; nine great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Along with his parents and first wife, John was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Sheets.

John and Mary were members together of Evangel Temple, Golden Fellowship, and Wonderland Community Church. When he wasn't working or helping care for his community with the church, John enjoyed playing the guitar and loved his cats.

The family will receive guests from 9:30 to 11am, Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Newcomer, Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231. Service will follow visitation at 11am, also at the funeral home. Burial to occur in Asbury Cemetery after services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
