SNIDER
John Snider, 58, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth (Hammond) Snider. John is survived by his loving wife Vickie; children Karen (Ray) Wright, Mark (Candi) Snider, Tricia (Wayne) Emerson, David (Misty) Overholt; grandchildren Daylen, Taran, Ashton, David, NaDeana, Angel; sister Anita (Jim) Frame and brothers Steve (Sue) Snider and Howard (Peggy) Snider. John sang in a trio with his brothers until 1980 when he formed the Green River Band. Originating in Zanesville then relocating to Columbus, this popular band traveled all around central and southeast Ohio performing. With John's leadership and enthusiastic performances the band had the opportunity to perform with artists such as Little Jimmy Dickens and Tom T. Hall. A member of the Ohio Country Music Association since 1983, John served as State President from 1985 to 1988. In 1990, John was elected to the Muskingum County Hall of Fame in his hometown of Zanesville. After 15 years of constant performing, John decided to take some time off in 1995 and the Green River Band disbanded. However, John's love of performing country music brought him back to the stage 18 months later when he became a member of the Paint Valley Jamboree in Bainbridge, Ohio where he performed every Saturday night. During his 9 years at the Paint Valley Jamboree he had the privilege of performing with such artists Tommy Cash, Mac Wiseman and The Lewis Family. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Gender Road Christian Church 5336 Gender Rd., Columbus, Ohio. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00PM Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. Rev.
