John Eugene Thompson, 78, passed away January 15, 2011. John was born April 12, 1932 in Diamond, Ohio to the late John Elmer and Elva (Woolever) Thompson. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jennie Six; step father, Joseph Onesti; step mother, Nellie Thompson; sister, Margie Webb and infant brother, Charles Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Ream) Thompson; daughter, Connie (John) McGuire; sons, John (Melinda) Thompson and Bruce (Joann) Moore; sister, Laurie Daly; grandchildren, Joseph (Ashley Hobby) Fox, Thomas Fox Jr., Dawn (Eddie) Pennington, and Bethany, Kelli and Brandi Thompson; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Tyler and Sophia Fox; Italian electrical brother, Joseph (Jeanine) Fancelli and Indian brother, Carlos (Rosa) Contreras. John retired from IBEW 683 and is a fifty year member. He was also a member and past president of IBEW 683 Retirees Club, Chandler Lodge 138, F & AM, and Alladin Shrine. John served in the US Army, Air Force Reserves and was an Atomic veteran. Visitation Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to HomeReach Hospice/ Kobacker House, OhioHealth Foundation, 180 E. Broad St. FL 32, Columbus, OH 43215-9946.
