John D. Vail, 76, of Columbus, passed away December 26, 2021.
John was born May 29, 1945 in Columbus, OH to Richard and Mabel (Snider) Vail.
He was a member and was the organist of Hungarian Reform Church. John was the general manager at Columbus Transportation where he retired. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, Go Bucks! John graduated from Franklin Heights. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with his family. John loved listening to his Gospel music.
John will be deeply missed by his fiancé Janet Ewing; children Tawna (Ray) J. (Vail) Ewing, Christopher J. Vail, Jordan (Abigail) M. Vail, Jennifer M. Vail; grandchildren Joseph Pattishall, Victoria DeVore, Ray A. Ewing, Elizabeth Ewing, Brantley Vail, Greyson Vail, Kellan Vail, Damian Steele, Michael Steele; great-grandson Joseph Pattishall II; sister Janet Lawton along with many other family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Alaina Steele, sisters Jeri Walters, Jenny Davis, brother Jim Vail, brothers-in-law Anthony Vegh, Richard Davis, Jim Lawton.
There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 10am at Hungarian Reformed Church 365 Woodrow Ave. Columbus, OH 43207. John's earthly remains will be interred at Greenlawn Cemetery directly following his memorial service in the Vail family section. A wake for family and friends will follow at Frontrow Sports Bar 3036 Southwest Blvd. Grove City, OH 43123 from 12pm to 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newcomer to assist the family.
