GRENIER

John William Grenier, 91, Worthington, OH passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. John was born on October 17, 1919, in Springfield, MA, one of four children of William and Rosalda (Desmarais) Grenier. Following high school, he became a journeyman tool and die maker and later served as a second lieutenant in the Army Air Corp during WWII. After the war, he earned B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from University of MA, Wesleyan and Yale, respectively. During graduate school he met and married Anna Maria DiStefano. John went to work for General Electric and continued in multiple locations until his retirement in 1984. He was a devout Catholic, devoted husband and loving father. He was forever curious, an avid learner and an enthusiastic storyteller. John was preceded in death by his wife Anna, and his siblings, Beatrice, Alma and Arthur. He is survived by his six children; John and Frank of Illinois, Anne of Oklahoma, Louise and James of Ohio and Lisa of Arizona. He is also survived by three grandchildren; David and Kristina of Illinois and John Rafael of Arizona. The family will be welcoming friends and holding a Memorial Service on Friday, June, 17, 2011, 10:00AM at Newman Center, 64 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201. A private family inurnment will follow later at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders, 333 7th Avenue 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001 (www.doctorswithoutborders.org/donate). Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH is honored to serve the Grenier Family.
