Jose Antonio Alvarado, 66, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The joy that Jose possessed and shared with others in life made him unforgettable.
Jose was born on March 19, 1957 to Emigdio and Antonia Perez Alvarado in Boaco, Nicaragua. He graduated from High School in Nicaragua and immigrated to the United States in the late 70's. He attended Ohio University and graduated from Franklin University with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. He was employed by OPERS for over 25 years and was currently working for Chase Bank for 10 years.
Jose and his wife Nubia attend St. Peters Roman Catholic Church. He faithfully served food at the homeless shelter in downtown Columbus, OH for over 20 years. Jose enjoyed watching and playing tennis, fixing and building projects, cheering for the Columbus Crew, Real Madrid, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and The Cincinnati Bengals. His favorite place to eat was Roosters & Little Caesars; and his favorite band was Pearl Jam. He truly adored road trips as well as visiting amusement parks to ride rollercoasters. Jose was an avid joke teller and loved using corney puns - he was the king of "dad jokes!" Most of all Jose enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids.
Jose will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years Nubia (Cuevas), children Neil (Ruthanne) Alvarado of Powell, OH and Maxine (Stephen) Matta of Powell, OH; three grandchildren Lillian, Ruby, and Polly Alvarado.
The viewing hours are from Thursday, September 7th from 4 to 6 pm with a Funeral service to be held directly after at 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Ln. Powell.
