Joseph A. Fodey Jr.
July 13, 1930 — May 10, 2013
Joseph A. Fodey Jr., 82, of Columbus, went home to His Heavenly Father, after a blessed life May 10, 2013. He was born July 13, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his complete commitment to his loving family he enjoyed the Air Force Museum and lunches with the boys. Joe and his buddies played in a Big Jazz Band through most of his young life, speaking fondly of the Big Band with great joy.
He was a 1948 graduate of Aquinas High School and then he joined the United States Air Force. His distinguished career in banking and accounting included Franklin County Clerk of Courts, Banking Management with Bank One and Personal Accounting Services.
Joe is survived by the mother of his children and wife of 60 years, Barbara A. Fodey, with whom he made his home. He will be forever missed by his daughters, Deborah Ann and Janet Audrey Orth; his son, Joseph Frederick Fodey. Joe is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Debra Kay Fodey and his grandsons, Matthew Joseph Orth, John Franklin Pernell Jr., Scott Michael Pernell, Jeremiah Joseph Fodey, and his great grandson, Hayden Michael Pernell. He will also be missed by many other family and friends including his special K-9 companion, Jacob.
Joseph's family would like to thank all the health care professionals whom made his last weeks as comfortable and peaceful as possible. You made all the time spent with our father in his final days something we will never forget. Dad, thank you for putting up such a strong fight to stay with us. We will forever treasure our moments during the weeks, by your bed side, as you passed your strength on to us. You are our hero and will be in our hearts forever.
Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231 where services will begin at 7 PM Tuesday.
