Joseph Mauriello, 82, Columbus, passed away (called his last bingo game) Monday, October 6, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Far Rockaway, NY on June 14, 1932, to Severino and Rose (Capone) Mauriello and is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis; mother and father-in-law, Harry and Marie Custer; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Harry and Dorothy Custer; sister-in-law, Ruth Custer Galvin; brothers-in-law, Charlie Plummer and Ray McManus.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty (Custer) Mauriello; daughter, Marilyn (Jim) Malcolm; sons, Paul Mauriello and Joseph (Shari) Mauriello; grandchildren, Jessica, Greg and Nick Malcolm; sister-in-law, Geraldine Plummer; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Joe was a Sargent in the US Air Force during the Korean War, retired from the US Postal Service, Secretary-Treasurer of The Church of the Guiding Light and Secretary-Treasurer of the Guiding Light Foundation. He also ran the Guiding Light Bingo for 32 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of the Guiding Light, 3185 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43231 at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
