Joyce Ann (Mitchell) Weinberger, 64, passed away on January 24, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on November 12, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Winifred Mae Mitchell and Toy E. Mitchell.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Sammy, and her brother Joey.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline “Quinn”, by her sisters, Cathy and Patty, and her brothers, Bruce (Debbie), Toy Jr., Mickey, and Kevin (Virg), in addition to nieces Angela, Andrea, Amber, Heather, Libby, Tracy, Toni, and Alicia, and nephews, Mickey Jr., Samuel Jr., Scott, Michael, Joey, and Kovi, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
Joyce was the most positive, uplifting soul. She personified her name, bringing Joy to the mundane and staying strong spirited even in challenging times. She loved life and found beauty in simplicity and everyday things and activities. She loved music and seemed to have a tune of her own for everything. She also knew no stranger; any being from a grocery store cashier to the stray cats she loved to feed could feel her kind, pure, and genuine nature. Joyce was also beyond proud to be a mother, and frankly, destined to be one. Once her daughter was born, Joyce devoted her life to her “miracle baby” and “one singular sensation.” Above all, she was so generous to her friends and family – she always put others first.
Not only was Joyce fiercely loyal to her friends and family, but also to her career, where many of her coworkers turned into lifelong friends. Coming from humble beginnings, Joyce worked very hard to graduate from Big Walnut High School and Delaware JVS in 1979. From there, she began her career. She was hired at Utica National Insurance Company in 1986 as a Commercial Rater and was later promoted to a Senior Commercial Rater because of her experience and knowledge. While there was no official title for a trainer, she was an invaluable trainer for the team for decades. She was a Quality Assurance Specialist for a few years but eventually returned to her position as a Senior Commercial Rater where she finished her career. She was very proud of her role on the team; she was a sought-out source of knowledge and would help anyone who needed it, much akin to her personal life.
