Judy Belle Drake

Judy Belle Drake, 83, died peacefully in her home June 14, 2024. Judy was born to Grace Belle and Peter Purtee on October 8, 1940.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Franklin Welch Drake; daughter, Bonnie (Tom) Beatty; son, Franklin (Stacy) W. Drake, Jr.; grandchildren, Catey (Nick) Coughlin, Becca (Liz Bell) Beatty, Alex Drake, Madi Drake, and Grace Drake; great grandchildren, Olivia and Reece Coughlin; special niece, Nannette Grimm; many other nieces and nephews; and numerous dear friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Kelly Drake; and her siblings.

She was a graduate of Eastmoor High School in 1958 and was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio. Judy worked at United Commercial Travelers and Continental Insurance for many years, retiring in 2005. She is remembered most for her sense of humor, feisty personality, and her penchant for shopping (pending close of business sale for QVC with the loss of Judy’s ability to purchase). We are grateful for so many years of love and laughter.

A visitation for friends and family will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:00 pm with Pastor Tim Womack officiating.
