On Wednesday, April 21, 2021 Karen Leigh, loving mother of three, went home to be with the Lord at the age of fifty-nine.
Karen grew up in Grove City with her parents John and Shirley Barnes and her siblings Jay Barnes (Dawn) and Leslie Pritchard (Keith).
After graduating from Grove City High School, she went on to attend The Ohio State University and pursue a degree in music education.
She raised three children, Emily, Hannah, and Gabriel, whom she loved fiercely and talked about to anyone who would listen.
A talented vocalist and pianist, Karen spent her career as a singer and songwriter, producing a number of albums, as well as leading local congregations in worship.
Karen also taught numerous children and adults to find their own passion for music as a teacher in schools, with private students, and with her passion project, The Levite School of Music.
In her later years, her declining health made it difficult to continue her good work, but her love of music and faith in Jesus never faltered.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, John Barnes.
She is survived by her mother Shirley, and three children Emily (Joe Huber), Hannah (Kristin Botkin-Doty), Gabriel, and two grandchildren Eli and Ezra Huber, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen's name to the Benevolence Fund at Linworth Road Church, 5400 Linworth Rd. Columbus, OH 43235.
Visitation will be held on April 28th from 5 - 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City.
A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on April 29th at 11am.
