Karnella Anne Singleton, age 79, died Sunday, November 9, 2008. Born Sept. 14, 1929 in Sciotoville, daughter of the late Jacob U. and Bennie Womack-Singleton. She was a 1951 graduate of Ohio University. She taught school for 40 years. She retired June 1991 from Portsmouth City School District. She was preceded in death by sisters, Edna S. Bruce, Irene S. Messer and Billie Feazell; brothers, Lawrence E. Singleton, Lohan "Barney" Singleton, and Richard G. Singleton. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was a member of the Sciotoville United Methodist Church, a life member of the Scioto County Retired Teachers Association, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Ohio education Association, member of Delta Kappa Gamma International, Alpha Delta State, Alpha Beta Chapter Teachers Society. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14, 2008 at 3:00PM at Brant Funeral Home, 422 Harding Avenue, Portsmouth, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel. Memorials may be sent to the Sciotoville United Methodist Church or the Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund.
