Karol J. Johnson (King), age 71, of Columbus, OH, passed away April 29, 2009 at home with her loved ones. Karol is survived by her husband of 53 years, William "Bill"; son, Doug (Mollie) Johnson of Ruby, SC; daughter Heidi (Tim) Erb of Westerville, OH; granchildren, Bonnie, Daniel, Sarah, Isabella Johnson and Tabitha Erb; brothers Kurt (Margo) King of Edina, MN and Keith (Marilyn) King of Mounds View, MN; several nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Karol was a member of Maize Manor United Methodist Church for 39 years, where she served as food pantry chairman for over 30 years; member of the Altar Guild, Friendship Circle and served in numerous other ways; received the Special Mission Award by the UMV in 2008; 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi, Laurette Alpha Rho Chapter; active supporter of Columbus Public Schools (1964-1983) serving many years as a room parent; PTA president and on Columbus Council of PTA's; and loyal supporter of Boy Scouts of America. Memorial Service to be held at 4 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Maize Manor UMC, 3901 Maize Rd, Columbus, OH 43224, with Pastor Jim Freshour officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Karol's memory be given to Maize Manor UMC Food Pantry or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Columbus Affiliate, 855 Grandview Ave., Suite 250, Columbus, OH 43215.
