Kathleen Shapter

Kathleen Mary (Andrews) Shapter, age 79, passed away Feb. 15, 2003, in rescott, Ariz. Kathleen was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Long Island, N.Y., to Roger and Agnes Andrews, both deceased. She served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. She married George H. Shapter Jr., on July 29, 1947. Kathleen received her bachelor's degree in education in 1961 from Ohio State University. She taught for 20 years in the Columbus Public Schools at Sixth Avenue, Weinland Park and
McGuffey schools. Kathleen made friends wherever she went. Children had a special place in her heart. Kathleen is survived by her husband, George; sons
Robert of Columbus, Mark (Susi) of Prescott, and Peter (Rita) of Columbus; grandchildren Benjamin of Manassas, Va., Christina and Amanda of Prescott, and
Breanna and Miranda of Columbus; and brother Robert J. Andrews of Colorado Springs, Colo. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday followed by a funeral service, at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus. Interment will be at Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville.
